Is Moxi safe for all skin types and tones?
Yes, and that is what makes Moxi a game-changer. Unlike many older lasers that carry a risk of hyperpigmentation for darker skin tones (Fitzpatrick types IV-VI), Moxi’s 1927nm wavelength is non-ablative and specifically designed to be safe for everyone. It is also one of the few lasers that can be performed year-round, even in the summer, because it is less sensitive to sun exposure than aggressive resurfacing lasers.
What is the downtime, and will I look "scary" afterward?
We call Moxi a "weekend recovery" treatment. Immediately after, your skin will feel warm (like a sunburn) and look red for about 24 hours. On days 2–4, your skin will feel like fine sandpaper as the "MENDS" (micro-epidermal necrotic debris) come to the surface. However, you can apply makeup starting 24 hours after treatment, so most patients return to work or social activities the very next day.
Does the Moxi laser treatment hurt?
Most patients describe the sensation as a light "prickling" or a "static" feeling. To ensure your comfort, we apply a medical-grade topical numbing cream for 30–45 minutes before we begin. At Strella, we also utilize specialized cooling techniques during the 12–15 minute procedure to make the experience virtually painless.
How does Moxi compare to Clear + Brilliant?
Think of Moxi as the modern, high-definition version of Clear + Brilliant. While both are "pre-juvenation" lasers, Moxi (by Sciton) is significantly faster, more powerful, and offers more customizable settings. How many sessions do I need to see a difference?
You will notice a visible "Moxi Glow" and smoother texture within just 7 days of your first session.
